Solar Transaction Provides Long-Term Benefits for the North Texas Municipal Water District

By August 3, 2020 August 7th, 2020 Case Study

The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) has historically taken a very proactive and long-term approach to managing its energy needs. Since electricity costs represent a meaningful percentage of  NTMWD’s operating budget, NTMWD has worked hard to achieve the lowest practical electricity rates while minimizing price volatility.

With reserve margins in Texas shrinking and on-peak power prices rising, NTMWD was interested in exploring an off-site solar purchase to serve both as a physical hedge against future spend and to promote renewable energy development in Texas. Accordingly, NTMWD engaged Energy Edge to help them evaluate the merits of a solar PPA and understand how to financially integrate this their retail power contracts.

To learn more about the evaluation process and how Energy Edge helped NTMWD ultimately secure a 20MW, 15-year solar PPA, click on the link below to download the full case study.
