ERCOT and PJM Release 4CP and 5CP Intervals for 2020

By November 2, 2020 News

ERCOT and PJM recently released the final 4CP and 5CP time periods and peak demand levels from summer of 2020.  The information can be found below.  Not familiar with 4CP and 5CP?  For most customers with IDR meters, you can save significantly on those costs if you reduce power usage during all Four Coincident Peak (4CP) or Five Coincident Peak (5CP) periods. For customers with facilities in ERCOT (Texas), 4CP periods are the highest 15 min intervals in each of the four summer months (June, July, August, September) which are averaged and used as basis for TDSP charges for the following year. For customers in PJM, 5CP periods are the highest 15 min intervals across four summer months (June, July, August, September) which are averaged and used as the Capacity Tag for the following year.

4CP Monthly Summary

  • June’s monthly peak was established on 6/8/2020 at interval ending 18:00 with 67,839 MWs demand.
  • July’s monthly peak was established on 7/13/2020 at interval ending 16:45 with a July record peak demand of 74,028 MWs.
  • August’s monthly peak was established on 8/13/2020 at interval ending 16:45 with 74,235 MWs demand.
  • September’s monthly peak was established on 9/1/2020 at interval ending 14:30 with 64,829 MWs demand.
