Natural Gas Weekly Storage Report – 10/16/2025

By October 16, 2025Reporting

EIA Natural Gas Storage as of 10/10/25, as reported 10/16/25

* Working gas in storage was 3,721 Bcf as of Friday, October 10, 2025, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net increase of 80 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 26 Bcf higher than last year at this time and 154 Bcf above the five-year average of 3,567 Bcf. At 3,721 Bcf, total working gas is within the five-year historical range.

The NYMEX November contract closed at $3.02/MMBtu yesterday, a $0.01/MMBtu decrease from Tuesday’s close. This week, November has averaged $3.05/MMBtu, around $0.26/MMBtu below last week’s average of $3.31/MMBtu. It is trading at $3.04/MMBtu, up $0.02/MMBtu from the previous day’s close. Natural gas prices held steady following today’s EIA storage report, which showed an 80 Bcf injection, broadly in line with expectations in the 78-84 Bcf range. Market sentiment remains cautious as the November contract continues to test support near $3.00/MMBtu, with technicals and mild October weather capping upside momentum. Supply-side fundamentals remain strong, with L48 production hovering near 105 Bcf/d, only slightly below last week’s levels, as Permian and NE volumes remain robust. Meanwhile, LNG feedgas nominations are steady around 16 Bcf/d, with all major terminals operating near capacity following the completion of Cove Point maintenance earlier in the week. On the demand side, cooler temperatures in the East and MW have lifted residential and commercial consumption, but weaker power burns and rising wind generation in the South Central continue to offset much of that strength. While volatility may persist as the market transitions toward winter, comfortable inventories and resilient supply continue to limit any sustained upward momentum in prices.
